So, finally got my Signalling Designer licence, only 2 years overdue. The promised promotion on gaining it isn't likely to materialise though due to the current hiring ban. And then last week a request comes from management to transfer me to a special project for which I'm "the only person in the company who has the right skills" to do it... If they believe that, then they can move me off the "Assistant" job title ffs.
Now full in on this project and just not enjoying it as much as the similar one last year. Feeling a tinge of burnout.
Definitely getting deeper into the burnout. Not helped by every project manager that I'm doing work for deciding to complain every time I try to book time to their projects... Timesheets have got to the point that I'm just ignoring them every month, much to finance's annoyance
Perversely, I still enjoy the work, just not the project management crap that adds undue pressure for little benefit - regularly get project programmes that are a complete work of fiction and are utterly unworkable. Projects that have been clearly bid without the bidding team understanding the scale of the work they're bidding for etc etc
Utterly frustrating that it's then the engineering team that gets dragged over the coals when it lands in our lap to implement
A director that says on the monthly departmental call that he doesn't recognise the feedback given on the anonymous employee survey, that complaints about redundancies and low morale were unavoidable, then essentially calls the people made redundant useless on a call of a hundred people, which clearly had colleagues and friends of the people who left...
Just outstandingly blind
And all this after being given the strong impression by a colleague that senior management know I love the job and are possibly taking advantage of me for that
So anyway, I've been staring at a test script that I've been supposed to run for the last two weeks and just have no motivation to even begin
Oh yeah, and the special role I've been moved to away from my usual work - doesn't even require the licence that my promotion was dependent upon. Just infuriating
Oh, the other thing, they're considering cutting the office size down to ΒΌ of it's current size, and I'm getting the impression that they're planning to move the IT Comms room into the Signalling Interlocking Test equipment room, which will be an utter disaster. To the extent that they're considering dumping rare legacy equipment that should be considered a critical resource...
Promoted today, but still being paid Β£3000 less than less experienced colleagues who started at the same time as me...
And I'm fully expecting that the 10% promotion raise won't include the 3.1% annual raise that was announced yesterday widening the gap even further...
Turns out they didn't even give the 10% recommended by the departmental director...
