Turns out the Mac had some pretty good ideas when it comes to multitasking.
@siracusa hey look - expose, what they should have used instead of stage manager 4 years ago…
@siracusa Maybe next year we'll get iPad OS Finder.
@siracusa This Files demo is triggering. FINDER PLEASE!
@jblake @siracusa Probably. Android has indicated they will offer a full desktop UI capability as well.
@siracusa Who would've thought?
@siracusa "who woulda thought"
@siracusa yeah, but it’s also not MacOS right?

@siracusa menu bars. Huh.

Pretty happy with that tbh

@siracusa Like an opaque/opaque-ish menu bar!

@siracusa huh, who knew?

I feel like Craig tried to have a bit of humour regarding this in his presentation too, which was nice

@siracusa Biggest thing (for me) in the keynote, I'm actually excited to use this iPadOS now. I think i can get real work done on it now, with far fewer compromises or slowdowns. Delightful.
@siracusa And how to handle files! 😄
@siracusa looks like they are giving up on trying to reinvent the macOS paradigms and bringing those tools to iPad.
@siracusa Did they secretly hire Viticci to design this for them?
@siracusa So we lost a menu bar and gained a menu bar?
@siracusa Interesting that they didn’t show it working with a finger.

@siracusa

Apple 2015: The iPad will replace the Mac
Apple 2025: The iPad is a Mac

@siracusa Turns out the Mac's "old" ideas about multitasking are the iPad's "new" big features
@siracusa
Yes - bg fg and ctrl z for hold! Oh and Threads... but you are late man.
@siracusa It's almost as if Apple figured this stuff our 20-40 years ago.
@siracusa so hard to watch the ipad segment of wwdc again this year, can't stand Federighi trying to sell it as revolutionary when it's still under bare minimum.
@Alonely0 @siracusa I’m pretty sure he was being sarcastic!

@siracusa

iPadSystem 7

… finally.

@siracusa ported back to macOS will be revolutionary? At WWDC 2026 perhaps the wheel will be reinvented once again.

Synchronising development of five major OS variants is a titanic effort I am sure. But user facing commonalities are now so obvious I don’t see why they bother to present them apart from each other anymore.
