now for some changes #WheelOfTimeOnPrime made from the #WheelOfTime books that I DON'T like:

a) Moiraine: "No Aes Sedai can stand in the presence of a woman who can channel, or who is close to her change, and not feel it."
b) Moraine to Egwene: "Child, only a very few can learn to touch the True Source and use the One Power. Some of those can learn to a greater degree, some to a lesser. You are one of the bare handful for whom there is no need to learn. At least, touching the Source will come to you whether you want it or not. Without the teaching you can receive in Tar Valon, though, you will never learn to channel it fully, and you may not survive."
c) Mordeth, of Shadar Logoth

a & b are related and in fact come from the same conversation, but these changes have far-reaching consequences, not least of which is the weird way they decided to make suldam and damane work

suldam, Leash Holders, are the girls who must learn and damane, Leashed Ones, are those who will touch the Source whether they want to or not¹

but in the show, Egwene tells her suldam that she's so weak in the Power that the Searchers missed her, and that ... doesn't make sense, unless of course channelers can't sense each other the way they can in the books

and I guess that's why they changed it so Moiraine didn't know Nynaeve could channel???

idk y'all, I'm not a fan. I get that they're condensing a bunch of stuff, but this is one change that I really dislike

and Shadar Logoth: in the show, Mat just finds The Dagger and that's it. there's no dude who has been trapped in this dead city for centuries

¹ also those who have already touched the Source, including those who had to be taught, though this is less of a thing in Seanchan, since they don't allow their channelers to learn

and his absence also has far reaching consequences, namely, Padan Fain

there are places where the show really feels like it's eliding some of the Very Neat Shit in this world, but most of them are in the next book (I think), so I'll talk about those things when I come to them, but Mordeth is one of those things, and so are the "very old stories" that Egwene asks Thom Merrilin for during Bel Tine: "Tell us about Lenn. How he flew to the moon in the belly of an eagle made of fire. Tell about his daughter Salya walking among the stars." and also, the stories Thom mentions after: "Tales of Mosk the Giant, with his Lance of fire that could reach around the world, and his wars with Elsbet, the Queen of All. Tales of Materese the Healer, Mother of the Wondrous Ind."

these tales from the Age before the Age of Legends could be referencing people and places from our world and our time, and I've always loved the idea that we are also part of The Wheel

I'm also kinda mad we see so little of Bayle Domon in the show, but that's a change I can live with
