I’ve had some questions about the FY26 budget. Here’s the proposed budget’s impact on the Heliophysics fleet. Bold red: canceled. Regular red: reduced. Orange: reduced & transferred. No mark: continues. Voyager will be canceled under this plan.
@NSFVoyager2 if that budget goes through, I hope we can crowdfund to keep the Voyager missions going until both spacecraft are unable to continue

@ShadSterling @NSFVoyager2 The staff at JPL who've kept the Voyagers going due to heroic efforts and ingenuity, deserve a vastly better end than a misguided budget cut.

What better example is there of responsible use of public funds than a science experiment which runs for decades longer than originally intended and produces amazing scientific results as well as the famous "Pale Blue Dot" image which should strike a chord with every human on the planet?

This relentless and vindictive destruction of what made America truly great is heartbreaking.

@NSFVoyager2 How's the esa solar orbiter cancelled through the budget cut?
@bionick @NSFVoyager2 I think that might be a "regular red" X (and not a bold) and therefore it means it's reduced in scope? Maybe NASA was funding some instruments?

@NSFVoyager2 WHAT DO YOU MEAN VOYAGER WILL BE CANCELLED!?!?

NOOOOO

@NSFVoyager2 The Trump administration canceling the Voyager program(s) should be considered the same as ISIS destroying historical / cultural artefacts of world heritage significance. (Some years ago)
