It can be in lawn decorations/decor/clothes or just in mention ("an [upside-down] pineapple party"). It depends on the size of the community how "obvious" it is. A section of a neighborhood in my town has a high population of swingers and there are lots of pineapple and upside down pineapple decor at those specific houses.
