My good friend @janethemotherfucker recently nudged me to try out LibreWolf, and I must say, I rather like it:

https://librewolf.net/

I built it from source on my Debian Bookworm machine, which was somewhat inconvenient; for example, I also had to manually updated rustc/cargo.

I must say again, I do quite like LibreWolf. It's basically Firefox but with all the telemetry/spyware crap removed, and with lots of security hardening enabled by default.

It also comes with Ublock Origin by default.

LibreWolf Browser

A custom version of Firefox, focused on privacy, security and freedom.

@janethemotherfucker Jane also made this version for herself: https://codeberg.org/FailsafeDX/librewolf-hellfire

This is LibreWolf but with the HellFire setup baked in by default. HellFire is another firefox-derivative that enables a bunch more performance optimisations by default.

I'm currently just running bog standard LibreWolf, but I might give her version a go.

LibreWolf - with HellFire!

@janethemotherfucker By the way:

Enable dark mode, in LibreWolf:

https://bitwilli.com/enable-dark-theme-in-librewolf

The Resist Fingerprinting option is just all-on or all-off by default, but you can made it granular instead, and specifically turn back on dark mode support.

Also, and to be clear, encrypted password managers are better, but if you want to restore saved passwords in LibreWolf:

I'm pretty happy so far. I like that there is a community-oriented browser like this. This made my day.

@libreleah

+1 for librewolf. I switched from Firefox to Librewolf when Mozilla basically announced they were collecting user data for training AI.

#librewolf

@janethemotherfucker

@neptune22222 @libreleah I switched from Brave to Librewolf.

But yeah, I wouldn't run stock firefox now that Google is compromised and Mozilla is kissing Facebook's ass for money.
