Day 1 of my #Bikepacking trip from Budapest towards Pasau is done. thanks to UPS for the late start. Had to cycle in the mid-day heat out of Budapest. After about 50 km felt spend, my heat burning in the heat. After short rest and food I pushed on and made over 100 km. Normally, I do not care about the distance, but I have limited time. Now in the hammock, signing off. Will try an early start tomorrow and rest during the heat time.
I actually enjoyed cycling into the night.

This exercise is not for vegetarians. And not only due to the limited food options along the way.

Found a nice spot on the Danube. At least I could was myself.
Setup in the dark. Assoon asI switched on light I got attacked by swarms.

Started off early today to ride before the heat. got close to 20 km in but now need coffee.

Today I started early (6) to cover some distance before the worst of the heat.
TBH, today was hard. Sitting hurts, boring landscape. Headwind. On the right fields forever. Left Danube behind trees. No shade to be had. Put on some music, head down and just pushed on.

Highlight so far was meeting a fellow #Bikepacker. And the finding out I know him from the above hashtag. @plactagonic it was a pleasure meeting you.
I slept a bit in the hammock on the campsite. The bird tried to hit me as well

It then changed drastically to this and stayed for the next 30 km. did not find any good spot to sleep even considered taken a hotel, but some local event, all booked out.

Will see if I can sit tomorrow. Feels a bit raw 😳

Hang the hammock inside a shelter thing. Busy area. So I had to get up early.

Cycled to Bratislava and then went in search to treat my sore bottom

From Bratislava it is only a short distance across the border to Austria.
The thunderstorm came earlier than expected so I decided to take a hotel.
Showering off that 3 days of sweat, sunscreen and dead flies felt soo good.

Forgot to mention: esp. the first day, in Hungary, the air was often heavy with the sweet smell of linden trees. Loved it

Good sleep in the hotel, first 20 km done, now coffee and breakfast. Today is Vienna my target, taking the train from there

It was wet until Vienna. But I actually enjoyed it a lot. I went to THE best ramen place I know, getting some warm inside me.
Now waiting for the NightJet to take me back home. Already 30 min delay. Looks like not only the Germans can do this.

Die ÖBB gibt sich Mühe die Verspätung wieder rauszufahren. Fürchte nur das die liebe Polizei das an der Grenze wieder zunichte macht. Ob ich die darauf hinweise das das was sie machen gesetzwidrig ist? 😇

Haha. Zug sollte in München Ost halten. Macht er nun nicht. Aber hey, Pasing ist ja gleich um die Ecke (für nicht Münchner, das ist auf der anderen Seite der Stadt).

S-Bahn fährt wohl auch nicht. Stammstrecke down?

Meine Arbeitsthese: In der Nacht bauen die an der Stammstrecke (ist ja auch nötig) und durch die schei.. Polizei kommen wir in die Sperrung.

In mein Abteil sollen eigentlich Menschen in Ist einsteigen. Die freuen sich jetzt sicher, denn ohne S-Bahn ist Pasing schlecht zu erreichen. Ist ja nur ein Nachtzug nach Brüssel und Paris, macht ja nichts wenn man den verpasst

Die #ÖBB ist ja noch besser als die #DB. Hab das Ticket über die ÖBB gekauft. in deren App bin ich wohl schon glücklich und zufrieden in Ost ausgestiegen

Allerdings hat die ÖBB geschafft mit weniger als 5 Minuten Verspätung von Salzburg nach Budapest zu fahren.

(Du kannst den Schritt auch überspringen und gleich zu "Sie wissen schon dass 'nur Befehle ausgeführt' seit den Nürnberger Prozessen keine valide Ausrede mehr ist" gehen.

Oder zu sowas wie "Heute schon remonstriert?"

Oooder zu "Sind Sie dafür Polizist*in geworden?"
