I drank the purple labeled shochu (Noka no yome) in my (now closed) favorite izakaya. Made from purple yakimo. He brought it out and I loved it, but stupid me didn’t get any info. He never brought it out again.

Went to the Akarui Noson brewery and saw the label, like seeing an old friend. Sampling it was like hearing the old friend speak. We are reunited and it feels so good.

@crysterious It’s from Kagoshima prefecture, Kirishima. Usually shochu in Kagoshima uses white sweet potatoes, so using purple yakimo is very unusual.
