you can think of hashtags as very meta much hypermedia
serríað@jutty i like out-of-band hashtags, like tumblr does, but an excess of inline ones just looks awful to me.
Also, why does anyone use #generic hashtags with no particular #context? It’s like they’ve heard of SEO, but aren’t really sure how it works or whether it applies here, but are prepared to give it their best anyway.
@serriadh Agreed, sometimes they can make stuff much harder to understand. I also do not understand tagging all the things either, you are basically creating links between #unrelated #things which is the opposite of what it's for??
Thankfully Mastodon has a low-key "soft block" mute option.
