Me: Hi, I’m selling this fashionable HF radio!
Enquiry: Has it been modified for wideband transmit?
Me: No, it’s completely unmodified, I haven’t even taken the lid off.
Them: Oh, I wanted a widebanded one but I’m too scared to do the modification myself.

I suspect they were trying to hint that they’d buy it if I did the wideband mod, but ha ha lol no chance.

@oe1omk I did on mine, but as a prospective buyer I wouldn't trust the previous owner with hardware mods or service menu shenanigans.

@IU1KGS I have no need to transmit outside the amateur bands, so it's quite useful that my radio prevents me from doing so by mistake. :)

but there's no way I'd either do the mod to get someone to buy it, or buy one which someone else had modded themselves, because they both have the potential to cause a lot of pain when it comes to e.g. warranty claims.

@oe1omk I didn't open completely, it was for the 60m band that is otherwise disabled.
@IU1KGS Ahright. I believe mine is recent enough that 60 was already there.
@oe1omk mine too are relatively recent, but somehow the Icom "#03 EUR" designation guarantees 60m are locked out in TX, so you have to fiddle with the diode matrix to enable it.
