If you have AppleTV+, consider Greyhound, about an allied convey across the Atlantic. Tom Hanks.

It is not a light matter. I'm watching for second time. And now I know the story, I think what each of them were feeling the entire time.

It's not literal or documentary. But is different in detail.

@SwiftOnSecurity Fun fact, "Dickie" was 3D modeled on HMCS Sackville, a Flower-class corvette museum ship based here in Halifax, NS.

@SwiftOnSecurity There are some Fletcher class destroyers preserved as museum ships, e.g. in Boston. I love getting to see artifacts and places from documentaries and historically-derived media, because it adds an extra layer of engagement for me.
@jakemiller @SwiftOnSecurity they filmed a bit on the USS Kidd, a Fletcher-class museum ship in Baton Rouge Lousiana. Kidd was never modernized and so easy to use to represent a WWII vintage Fletcher and have it look right. there is another Fletcher (The Sullivans) in Buffalo NY; that one sank in shallow mud in its berth a while back and the saga of its refloating may be watched in a series on youtube.
@SwiftOnSecurity The book is REALLY good.

The Good Shepherd - C.S. Forester.

@SwiftOnSecurity i really enjoyed Greyhound, solid recommendation. I believe at one time there was talk of a sequel?
@SwiftOnSecurity I think it is good entertainment, but one really have to suspend disbelief to really enjoy it.
@SwiftOnSecurity It was the first thing I saw on AppleTV+, and enjoyed it immensely. Tom Hanks really is a jewel.
@SwiftOnSecurity Consider watching the British film "The Cruel Sea" about the UK and Canadian experience. I knew a few old sailors and it was so realistic they had trouble watching it.
