Those of you on Linux, what music player do you use? I love the iTunes experience but in my future move to Linux I will need to find a replacement.

#linux #music

@LePertti been using Amarok for a long time.

@LePertti If you want a local music player with iTunes vibes, try rhythmbox. If you want it to be old-school try Clementine or one of its forks.
I'm daily driving KDE Plasma these days, and Elisa is also a great option. If you're going the Gnome route, try Gnome Music too, though you might like Rhythmbox more.

There are options 'a plenty though, you might like something else entirely

@LePertti audacious. Basically a Winamp clone. Low desktop real-estate cluttering and does the job well.
@LePertti I used to use Audacious, but more recently, I've been using mpd (Music Player Daemon) with ncmpcpp (wonderful name, I know /s) as the client.
@LePertti mpd with ncmpcpp as the interface. Great when you're used to it but comes with a learning curve!
@LePertti I tried DOZENS and the winner for me was Fooyin.
@LePertti Do you use iTunes for streaming or only primarily downloaded music?
@LePertti I usually use Amberol (https://apps.gnome.org/en/Amberol), but it cannot play some media files (e.g. .wma), so for the rest, I usually use Audacious.
Amberol – Apps for GNOME

Plays music, and nothing else – Amberol is a music player with no delusions of grandeur. If you just want to play music available on your local system then Amberol is the music player you are looking for. Cu...

@LePertti strawberry is functioney. The Dynamic Random Mix is like shuffle but you can see what's coming, so open to slight DJ moderation...
@LePertti Tauon (formerly TauonMusicBox) has been very nice.
@LePertti For locally stored music, I typically use Elisa (because it's included with KDE, and it does its job well enough). I also host my own Jellyfin server, so most of the time I just use my web browser.
@LePertti I like Rhythmbox and VLC :)
@LePertti I use Audacious for the old school Winamp vibes. I like the visualizations it comes with too.
