Anthony HortonHeading off to Padova for the MAVIS MAIT workshop. Naturally I am beginning my trip from Australia to Italy by having a beer from Japan.
Because I'm an idiot I checked in too late to get an aisle seat for the first leg and had no choice but to have a seat in the middle of a row with randos either side. I think my choice of a row just behind a 2 seat bulkhead row has worked out, though. I should be able to escape forwards and to the left when I want to get up.
Fortunately the person on my left slept for a lot of the flight, and were thoughtful enough to put their screen away when they did, so I was able to squeeze out that way without making anyone stand up for me.
Made it to my hotel in Padova. That's 10 square metres of 3 star luxury right there.
Well, after about 28 hours of travelling I managed to stay awake for a further 4 hours or so in order to go out for dinner. Spritz Campari & pizza. It was good.

A busy day working on MAVIS today, but having lunch in the shadow of La Specola is nice.

The work is over now, I have free time until heading for home tomorrow lunchtime.

On my way to the airport now. I just had time for one last look around Padova this morning. It really is lovely.
Recharging in Dubai airport, both figuratively and literally, before the second, much longer flight.
Yes, there will be power at my seat on the plane, but it saves some faff if I don't have to charge everything on board.
Ah, the perils of international travel. We're now up to pretty much 1/3 of all the people who attended the workshop in Italy last week having become ill as a result, either while there or immediately after returning.
I'm now in the latter category. I must have picked up Unknown Respiratory Infection on the journey home, and after a couple of days of mild symptoms that I was hoping to fight off it's now hit me properly.
Damn. I really can't afford more time off work right now, and I've been really looking forward to spending some fun time with the kid this weekend.
