A bygone era at the local Walgreens (June 2013).

You see, kids, before streaming services had taken over, people had to leave their homes to rent movies. Those were hard times. #ThrowbackThursday #OlympusStylusZoom80 #BelieveInFilm

@analogfusion Yes, I remember the days of the Redbox lines, when people had to wait whole minutes for a limited supply of new releases.
@colorblindcowboy I think I rented one, maybe two videos there. It was relatively recently that I realized the machines were gone, and I don't know when they pulled them.
@analogfusion @colorblindcowboy I used them a lot before the pandemic. afterwards movie selection decreased but so has physical media releases. I used them in tandem with my public library. I used it because I wanted "New Releases" every once in a while and often get cheap promo prices.

@tkmedia @colorblindcowboy Hopefully libraries will continue to carry physical discs for a long time to come. It's likely digital distribution will become the sole option at some point.

Why sell copies when you can get customers to pay for perpetual subscription$?

@analogfusion @colorblindcowboy ive been saving streaming stuff on hard drive and sometimes disc. As often there is no disc ever available. I have original streaming only tv shows that was not popular but was removed for a tax write off and unavailable anywhere. 🏴‍☠️
@tkmedia @analogfusion The older I get the less I re-watch things. I don’t know when that happened exactly. Probably when I atarted to have less time to watch things.

@colorblindcowboy @tkmedia I rewatch certain shows and movies. I like to revisit old episodes of Star Trek and Futurama.

Some movies, too, although most I don't feel any burning desire to watch a second time. "Office Space" is a notable exception.

@analogfusion @colorblindcowboy really depends. I might have seen something i only thought was ok. But then another person watches it and claims. It was way ahead of its time. I might consider a rewatch. We change and so does our consumption.
