'"We understand that there were feelings hurt, but understand that Plattsburgh and the Adirondack region value you and we want to make this relationship continue," Kennedy said. "We're ready to roll out that red carpet."'

Again, American friends, it’s not about hurt feelings.

It’s about having no appetite to visit a copycat Nazi state run by far right zealots and making oneself subject to summary deportation to el Salvador.

Fix that & the tourism will follow.

U.S. tourism operators offer exclusive deals for Canadians to try to convince them to return | CBC News

Many U.S. tourism operators are offering special deals and discounts for Canadians to try to convince them to cross the border β€” just in time for the summer travel season.

as long as there is a possibility that non US people travelling to the US can be, at best, detained for weeks by ICE and at worst be, mistakenly or not, renditioned to a torture gulag

just stay home

@f800gecko I don't think this golf guy understands at all. Canadians didn't have their "feelings hurt" and they aren't feeling "picked on"

Those are both minimizing the attack on Canada's sovereignty.

The promos and discounts are fine, and the golf balls are cute, but come on. If it were merely hurt feelings, your bookings wouldn't be down. This is bigger and deeper.

@xinit @f800gecko also the not insignificant risk of the holidaymakers and/or their families (especially if its a multicultural family) getting nicked by ICE on a whim is surely a massive factor in discouraging Canadians (or anyone else!) from travelling to the USA?

@vfrmedia
That's largely in the same bucket, yeah.

"What's this laptop you have with an asset tag sticker on it? You planning to work down here?"
