When vibe coding turns into vibe debugging
@cjk
Vibe debugging is just more vibe coding. Additive only until it seems to work.
@jbowen Sigh. This is supposed to be a joke.
@cjk lol, I'm aware. Just wanted to add my own "joke"/commentary on the sad world we now inhabit.
@jbowen Ah, I misunderstood then. Sorry.
@cjk @jbowen This is everyone I see trying to use AI for coding. The first code doesn't work, so they have the AI build more code they don't understand to fix the code they had it write that doesn't work. Ad infinitum.

@cjk

As it was foretold by the sages.

@cjk Just before vibe trashing XD

@cjk

Retired programmer here. I had to go look this up.

This, from Wikipedia: "Three engineers interviewed by IEEE Spectrum agreed that vibe coding is a way for programmers to learn languages and technologies they are not yet familiar with"

Let vibe coding TEACH people??? Lord, have mercy.

Am I wrong?

@PricklyPam I‘m really not a fan of vibe coding, I think it is utter insanity to practice it. You won’t learn anything (because you don’t do the thinking), you don’t really understand the code. And you waste a lot of resources to do it.

So I might be the wrong person to ask about this 🫣

@cjk Yep, just keep adding shit and see if something sticks.
@cjk Your average street corner in urban Thailand.

LOL

this kind of cable mess always puts me in mind of the joke of the man lying naked in a bed of cactus:

a man is walking along and sees another man, lying naked in a big bed of cactus.

1st man: so, why are you lying there, naked, in that bed of cactus

2nd man: seemed like a good idea at the time. doesn't seem like such a good idea now...
