Fortune: Questions swirl as Tesla nears Austin launch day for high stakes driverless robotaxi launch
*** my own questions here:
1. How soon will a Tesla robotaxi slam into the back of an emergency vehicle?
2. How many people will get run over by a robotaxi before they withdraw it from the market?
3. How many low paid third world "drivers" will be required to make this "driverless" system work?
4. Will these robotaxis be participating in future Nazi parades?
Will add...
5. Will they be weaponized for surveillance and or assaults as per @pluralistic scifi

Re #5
We can be assured that there will be multiple internal cameras and microphones along with exterior cams and all their data will be saved despite claims to the contrary
@koen_hufkens @Asbestos @ai6yr @pluralistic Well, there's an article on the cameras being access by hackers :
https://www.wired.com/story/verkada-hack-github-exchange-server-exploit-security-news/
And an article from Reuters about employees sharing "sensitive" images from customer cars ..
@koen_hufkens @ai6yr @pluralistic
Given what now must be the full douchebro vibe going on there, I would expect no less.
@koen_hufkens @ai6yr @pluralistic
I'm also pretty sure it will be shared easily with law enforcement, to further efforts of stifling antifascist dissent
@ai6yr 6. Can Elon Musk willingly volunteer to be the test dummy for these robotaxis?
7. How likely is it that Elon Musk can get fatally hit by one of these things?
@ai6yr
possible answers
1) unknown because accident reporting of robots is forbidden by the NTSB; not a profitable report so no reason to have it.
2) two unrelated concepts, people getting run over means a poor life choice, withdrawn from market only happens when it no longer profitable.
3) none, they will all be low paid locally, driverless system working is a political question, it will just be defined that way.
4) yes, they will be the only vehicle allowed. Its an issue of total control.
@ai6yr saw the doc today and he says light duty at work for ~6 weeks and lots of physical therapy
probably the end of spring outdoor climbing season for me but I'm hoping to salvage some summer boat time
