@libreoffice - don't know about 25.8, as I'm having no success with installing 25.2.3 (Intel) on my 2017 MacBook Air running Monterey. Just keep getting the window saying it can't install. Even tried Silicon version with (obviously) same result. Tried other mirrors. Same result. Argh.
An experiment - downloaded Silicon version onto my M2 Mini and install process opened without issue.
Thoughts?
@bazcook So you're definitely downloading the Intel version from the website? (As Apple Silicon is the default CPU choice – there's no way to auto-detect.) Can you post a screenshot of the message you receive when you try to install the Intel version on your 2017 Air?
@libreoffice - definitely asking for Intel version. Beyond that, at a loss.
@bazcook At a loss too – that's not one we've seen before either, "Operation not permitted". Does the same thing happen with any other .dmg files saved in the same place?
@libreoffice - nope. LibreOffice gets to be the first!
All app downloads have always been sent to Downloads folder before installation. Started installation from there.
And before you ask - tried saving it to Desktop and then installing from there. Same issue.
Again, downloading Silicon version onto my M2 Mini (into Download Folder) and it activated the install without issue.
Same browser (Firefox) and all other internet / Wi-Fi settings, too.
@libreoffice ...and I'm not about to pay Apple to access the Suite from their store ($CDN11.99), especially as it's still at 24.8.6 and will be sandboxed to serve Apple's own whims.
Oh, well...
@bazcook We're absolutely puzzled too. Never seen that before or other reports from users on macOS, I'm afraid. Searching around, we can only find reports of "Operation not permitted" in the terminal or when building .dmg images, not opening. The only other idea we have is to try a different mirror server from https://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/25.2.3/mac/x86_64/LibreOffice_25.2.3_MacOS_x86-64.dmg.mirrorlist
Mirror List

@libreoffice - okay, so take your pick. Downloaded from a country-specific mirror, using a different browser - this time Safari. It installed without issue.
Blame the source? Blame Firefox? But again, I downloaded the Silicon version from default location on my M2 using Firefox and it had no issues.
Something is funky *somewhere*, but at least I was able to get it to work.
@libreoffice thank you for doing this!
