Why is the BIOS key so tricky to find!? πŸ˜–

#linux

@itsfoss I am working on a guide for NixOS (when time allows) and finding the BIOS / UEFI along with Boot Menu was the 1st thing I decided needed to be addressed https://codeberg.org/Linux-Is-Best/NixOS_Configuration/src/branch/main/Disable_Secure_Boot_and_Boot_USB.md
Making sure you're not a bot!

@itsfoss Just press Esc, F1, F2, F10, F12, and Delete at the required time. Which is the millisecond before your screen gets active.
@itsfoss I have seen it assigned to F2, F9, F11, F12, and β€œenter.” They should have standardized the BIOS menu key when they standardized ATX.
@itsfoss it gets impossible when the key you know would work stops functioning 😞
@itsfoss i didn’t considered doing this… hahaha
@itsfoss lololol that was me! guilty!
@itsfoss In many BIOS deployments, the message telling how to enter Setup is sent to the display before the backlight lights up, and erased (and not re-rendered) when a later version of the driver starts. It's a microcosm of "good/cheap/fast, pick any two".
@itsfoss I usually press the pause key so the bios halts on the initial screen showing the legend of keys (setup, boot device selector, ...)
@dpdmancul @itsfoss wow you are a magician βœ¨πŸ˜† how did I not know this
@sainteckes @itsfoss I was just curious about the usages of the pause key πŸ˜‚
@itsfoss it's a shame that there Is no standard for this key assignement
@itsfoss I'm more the hammering f1,f2,f10,f12 kind of guy πŸ˜† now i just stick to framework where I know it's f2.
@sainteckes I still do all that, with the delete button in the mix. 🀣
