Letter to a #Senator / 19 May::
Mr. #Tillis_
My second letter today is to register my displeasure and opposition to the #BigBeautifulBill making its way --with friction-- through the committee. 1/7
I oppose this #bill because of the punitive nature and how much it adds to the #federal#deficit over time. The projections on private sector investment to juice the economy is just that: projections. We now have decades of evidence that #StarvetheBeast does not work. 2/7
When the individual states were more self-sustaining and federal support was limited to defence and facilitation of trade, the value of a small operation in #Washington had value. With this bill, there is no legitimate recognition that that #government is actually shrinking. 3/7
And, in the 21st century, when the overwhelming majority of all citizens' goods and services transcend the States’ borders, it makes absolute sense why coordinated management from the# centralized government is necessary. 4/7
This bill’s cutting reduces effective income (and household budgets) to the bottom 20% by over 10%. Along with tariffs, this is severely punitive. The only sector of the population that will see a tax cut is the upper 1%, who do *not* spend their resources on #MainStreet. 5/7
Mom and Pop do not live on #WallStreet. #StarvetheBeast does not work. #Communityinvestment is a moral and ethical cornerstone and we’ve forgotten how to champion an appropriate contribution from those that have benefitted the most from how this system works. 6/7
