theres less need to creat alt accts than reddit, because reddit or the sub will ban people often, also throwaway accs arnt really a thing on lemmy compared to reddit, for the above reason. originally throwaway/alt is to avoid getting your original account getting brigaded or ban for one reason or another. now with reddits recent updates thier filters are so sensitive its easier to get ban if you look at it wrong.

I feel like Canada is was over represented here and in a lot of media. It only has 40 million people total but is somehow a massive chunk of online presence

that said, you have a good point. the crtc here (Canada) is the equivalent of the fcc down there. we have laws that require media organizations to prioritize canadian content above us content.

I already recognize quite a few users here who’ve only written around 3,000 comments total - so by that metric, if I’d just kept using my first account, I’d probably be instantly recognizable to a ton of people by now.

Some of the more active users have very strong political views. I don’t mind them as users but I left the communities they moderate.
