Kindergarten children dropped seeds in the crack of the sidewalk to see what would happen - STREET ART UTOPIA

In a world inundated with technology and digital distractions, it’s easy to lose sight of the simplicity and charm of nature. A recent guerrilla gardening experiment by kindergarten children reminds us of nature’s resilience and its ability to flourish in the most improbable spaces. The children did an experiment in guerrilla gardening by dropping seeds […]

STREET ART UTOPIA
@streetartutopia Very, very pretty! Also, stand behind the flowers until it's safe to cross the road.
@streetartutopia Those plants will develop roots and those roots with time will tear up the pavement. And if there are underground pipes then those will also be impacted.
@welkin7 @streetartutopia And the roots will go even deeper until they reach the magma und create a volcano at this location and all the children will die. Irresponsible behavior.
@welkin7 @streetartutopia yes, the sidewalk was constructed faulty. It should have had a proper flower bed to avoid any damage and be less of an eyesore
@welkin7 @streetartutopia These are flowers, not trees. Annual flowers don't root so deep that they will crack the concrete. They simply die when they get out of space. Be more concerned about the weathering. Guess why there is a crack where plants could grow ;)
@welkin7
Are you saying nature will win over man's feeble, hubris-driven constructs? I am glad to hear it!
@streetartutopia
@welkin7 @streetartutopia Spoken like someone who has never planted marigolds in their life. In any case, no, they won’t do any of those things. You are thinking of trees.
@welkin7 @streetartutopia These are flowers not birches.
@welkin7 @streetartutopia Small flowers can't do that, you need something like a tree to do it.

@streetartutopia

What a lovely experiment! 👏

@streetartutopia

What kind of seed would be the best / quickest, most robust?

@henrik
Tagetes are a good start (like in the image). And Marigolds perhaps.
@streetartutopia
@streetartutopia where is this? And could you please provide the pictures' source (doesn't say in the article)?
@streetartutopia The BEST kind of ninja gardening. 💛

@streetartutopia I like the energy of the image...

I can almost hear it...

I love this! I live on a busy street corner and will try it with any seeds I have on hand.

All the kids and parents walk to an elementary school a block away, and I think they'd enjoy it!

@streetartutopia
Nice, although the kindergarten story probably isn’t true: the oldest source of this picture is from 2021, the kindergarten story only emerged two years later, in 2023.

@streetartutopia

Gardeners: I've prepared this lovely garden for you.

Flowers: add some fertilizer, water regularly, … we might survive.

Kid: want some crack?

Flowers: we're gonna live our best lives now!

@streetartutopia This is a nice first step. The next steps would be to narrow down the space for cars, limit the speed to 30 KPH, add a bicycle track and replace as much asphalt and concrete with greenery as possible. Cities should belong to humans, not cars. Cars are the worst possible means of moving about a city.
