Trying to do the right thing and take a dead laptop (securely wiped) for recycling. Did my research, and found that all Officeworks stores accept computers and laptops, hurray! There is even one easily accessed via public transport!

Except they don't. And the staff have no idea which I can recycle it. And suggested Bunnings. So I've taken an old dead laptop for a long outing this evening.

I have received a response from Officeworks, who confirmed that all of their stores accept computers and laptops for recycling. So, I'll keep that email handy when I revisit soon, but FYI for anyone else clearing out their study.

The staff in store once again tried to tell me they can't take it "because of the battery"
As soon as I said I had an email from the manager, they said, "oh ok, sure, just leave it here". Sounds like the policy is very unclear and no one is quite sure.

I also started to wonder whether the items are actually dismantled and recycled. Or is it like the H&M fabric/fibre recycling, where it all ends up in a tip in another country. I assume the worst...but I've tried.
