Rusty CorgiY'all make fun of Americans for our hyper processed foods but, like, I'm sorry. American cheese is elite. 
Hyper Tiger@Rusty I will say it has like... one application, maybe in a breakfast sandwhich, that said any application that american cheese can be used in. a nice mild cheddar *usually* does better.
@Hyperion21 Hard disagree. A mild cheddar tastes too bland and is way doughier. 
Sharp cheddar is okay but it's still not as melty or as creamy as American cheese.

rawry_ Θ∆@Rusty @Hyperion21 🤎💛: imo they're totally different styles, like our go to for stuff like breakfast sandwiches, burgers n pulled pork is definitely american cheese but if we're talking grilled cheese? cheddar might edge out there altho it's a rough competition
but for all of em it depends on the context, like if we're making a fancy burger with pesto and lots of black pepper we're 100% going with cheddar
but otoh if we're looking for that classic nostalgia grilled cheese it's obviously gotta be american
