"How's your day going, you peaceful work-from-home guy you?"

"Garbage truck exploded. You?"

this week's recording of #60SecondsOfWIP is delayed by an exploded burning garbage truck outside my office window.

Murica, serving up free metaphors.

By my count, there are eleven homes who have clear lines of sight to this little debacle. At least half of them are occupied at this moment.

Yet I'm the only one who came out to see if they were okay and if they needed anything.

Or brought out water for these guys.

Now that the fire is out, one of the guys is pissed. He loaded trash, hopped up after it, and something in the trash exploded. Because one of my neighbors threw out something explosive.

You rage, sir. Rage like hell. Tell the boss. Send a nastygram to my whole damn street.

I can't prove whose trash it was, but the trash they had just loaded? It was a big pile, because the jerk neighbors' grandkids cleaned out forty years of detritus from that garage last weekend.

@mwl

Holy fark. Aerosol cans can explode when compressed, but unless there's a dozen or something it'd be more a muffled POP instead of an explosion.

Propane tank? Mostly empty gas can? Lithium batteries? Do car batteries explode when squeezed? SO MANY POSSIBILITIES

@mwl

I’ve always wondered how that doesn’t happen more often

One of of neighbors garage (separate from their house luckily) caught on fire some years ago. It went from “where is that smoke coming from” to holy-f’ing-shitballs real quick. Enormous fireballs every time something flammable set off
