#Trump said on Sunday that he was directing the Federal Bureau of Prisons to rebuild & reopen the infamous #Alcatraz prison in the #SanFrancisco Bay to "house America’s most ruthless & violent Offenders."

"REBUILD, AND OPEN ALCATRAZ!" he posted on his Truth Social platform. "When we were a more serious Nation, in times past, we did not hesitate to lock up the most dangerous criminals, and keep them far away from anyone they could harm."

The federal #prison at #Alcatraz housed notorious US criminals such as Al Capone before it closed in 1963. It is now one of #SanFrancisco's most popular tourist destinations.

"Today, I am directing the Bureau of Prisons, together with the Department of Justice, FBI, & Homeland Security, to reopen a substantially enlarged & rebuilt ALCATRAZ," #Trump wrote.

Trump told reporters as he returned to the WH from FL, that reopening the prison was "Just an idea I've had" & decided to act on.

"It's a symbol of law and order," #Trump said.

#Alcatraz was closed because it was too #expensive to continue operating, according to the Federal Bureau of #Prisons (#BOP) website, in large part due to its island location. It was nearly three times more #costly to operate than any other federal prison, the BOP website said.

Alcatraz rightfully belongs to the Native Americans. A treaty signed by the US turns over all abandoned and unused federal lands to the Native Americans. They occupied the island from 1969 to 1971 with the intent of turning the island into a Native American cultural museum. The USA, as usual, broke their treaties and used military force to remove Native Americans from land that rightfully belonged to them. Alcatraz a symbol of American White Supremacy.

@Nonilex also its neither financially viable nor reasonable to bring it up to standard.

  • When it was concieved, it shure was safe, but that was in an age when smokeless powder was considered hightech and neither underwater scooters nor narcosubs existed.
