@Jakra tough question, we aren’t looking at what “we” collectively need. Which may be part of the nature of elections, the outcome is a sum of personal preferences.
@fletch My question wasn't about the outcome of the election, but the health of our democracy itself. Has the process that lead to this outcome, resulted in an improvement in the health of the system, or has the de facto vote on trumpianism handed the victory to an incumbent who may not have earned it.
@Jakra earned or gifted, the alternative was beyond the pale. Dodged a bullet. USA Democrats had the problem of perfect over good. Australia has a system that ensures good and we should be thankful.
@fletch Things like the tumpette SMS messages, the corflutes, the advertising, all of the other factors that affected the election, regardless of the outcome.
@Jakra nothing is perfect. We’re doing good, could it be better, of course, could it be worse? In almost every way. That Palmer blew millions again for nothing and <<5% of the primary vote tells me you’re not buying elections.
Edit: me to be

@fletch
Noone knew whos clives candidates were.

Lost rights to old name

Weird name

Hoping to build on trump name, which might have worked if Trump didn't wack the free trade agreement with Australia.

Very late to the party, didn't have time to build a candidate profile.

Nonsense policies.

Annoyed everyone with SMS's and over advertising.

Advertising Tucker Carson for Clive.

Amateur hour, despite the spend.

Should have spent more time and money on strategy.

Unfortunately didn't get in bed with Pauline. Would have been fun to watch that union fall apart big time in the middle of the campaign.
