Many countries celebrate when their countries were liberated from the Nazis. In Denmark for instance, we celebrate May 5.

But World War II officially ended on September 2, 1945, with Japanese foreign affairs minister Mamoru Shigemitsu signing the Japanese Instrument of Surrender aboard the USS Missouri in the presence of US General Sutherland (picture 1).

However, Trump thinks that because countries in Europe celebrate dates in May, that must be when the entire World War II ended (picture 2).

@randahl for us it was 27th of April, not that it's celebrated, but it's a day to celebrate the war veterans from the Winter/Continual/Lapland wars.
