So, I just spent some money on some sewing machine feet.

My sewing machine is an Elna Lotus from the early 1970s. It's older than me. My mom sewed kid's clothes for me and my siblings on it. It's a travel machine: really portable, doesn't take up a lot of room.

It works well with some fabrics, especially wovens. Knits … not so much. And it's not the strongest; I have run into the limits of how many layers it will sew through on occasion.

It doesn't have a lot of stitches: straight, zigzag, hem stitch, triple zigzag, that's it.
But that's enough for me. And with some occasional oiling and dusting, the thing is as good as indestructible.

I just want to see whether the right feet can help with my issues (esp. with knits), and keep me using this familiar little device.

New feet arrived! I need to go to the store first. Then I will clean up my sewing table and try them out.

OK, getting the needle alignment for the straight stitch foot correct is a bit fiddly.

The walking foot, however, is awesome. I'll use it tomorrow to sew a top with soft, shifty fabric that I cut out today.

@draco I use those stitches 99% of the time! They really are the workhorse stitches. I hope the new feet help out.
@draco I know exactly what you mean! I'm currently rocking a Singer 354 from the 70s that belonged to my mom. Commited enough to keeping it running that I bought a second one.
@draco a walking foot was transformational for me
