Boss of a small regional office decided that he liked the idea of everyone staying an extra 10 mins after their shifts to fill in an online form listing five things they did that day. He changed his mind very quickly after just one email from Unite the Union. Join a union.
@fesshole
This is clearly cribbed from ole Elon so I'm going to call it as Did Not Happen but also a word of advice: not all unions are equal and if you end up in a shit one (I did once) they can just make you feel worse about your situation. Go for the biggest one you're allowed to join!!
@aaron @fesshole No idea if it did or not, but I'm willing to believe that IRL bad bosses are getting their bad ideas from Elmo...

@denisbloodnok @aaron @fesshole

Yeah if you don't think bosses are out there getting inspired by rich assholes, you live a blessed existence

@davey_cakes @denisbloodnok @fesshole
I've met plenty of shit bosses but there are plenty of reasons why this isn't likely to be real
@aaron @davey_cakes @fesshole I really don't see how anyone can know. It's entirely plausible someone made it up; it's also entirely plausible some IRL bad boss actually went there.
@fesshole Well, he can have the report filled in the last 10 minutes before the shift ends.
It's work time, after all.

@yora @fesshole I'll be damned. I'd tell him what I told a project manager that tried to get us to write daily status reports:

I'll just go ahead and attach how much that costs the company to the bottom of that report and make sure to CC your supervisor.

We did not, indeed, need to write daily status reports after that.

(edit: of course, I was a third party consultant at the time, but I'd do the same if I were an employee. It just might not be as effective)

@b4ux1t3 @yora @fesshole Reminds me of the job where it wasn't allowed to put the time for filling out the time sheet into the time sheet. Which of course everyone did — in mine, it was "documentation". The time sheet was bullshit in other ways too, but this was the most stupid thing about it.

At some point it was silently dropped — some series of events that I cannot remember led to people no longer handing it in, and nobody said anything.

@jyrgenn @yora @fesshole timesheets for positions where I put the same entry for 8 hours a day, every day....

Sigh. And yet, I'll get chewed out by accounting if I don't fill it out, but I can't _prefill_ it at the beginning of a pay period...

@fesshole that reminds me of how my old grocery store job tried to make everyone (this happened during the last six months I worked there) do online quizzes every day about their job but it was the same questions over and over and so I (and everyone else) stopped doing them.
@NoahJin @fesshole we have a yearly online survey to fill out. Have never filled it in (most don't). First it's only to be done in our own time, second nothing ever happens from it.
@fesshole I could not agree more. I notice that Trump and his coterie of fascists are attacking unions. I think all unions should create an alliance like Harvard has done with universities to fight.

@fesshole He’s an idiot. Do it in company time, not the employees personal time.
