I may be on BBC Radio 4’s PM programme this afternoon, talking about the importance of having a battery operated radio in case of emergency.
@james@bne.social Not much use in a few years when there's no AM or VHF FM broadcast any more.
@nowster Plenty of DAB battery radios. And DAB transmitters, for national radio at least, are built just as robustly.
@james@bne.social Coverage is also a problem, typing this from a location with marginal outdoors DAB coverage from the national multiplexes, and zero signal indoors.

There's better FM radio signal from Ireland (which abandoned DAB several years ago) here than the BBC nationals. And allegedly we only have Classic FM because one of its original directors was a regular visitor to the area.
@nowster@fedi.nowster.me.uk @james@bne.social A neighbour (about two miles away) had "letter of the week" in the Radio Times, was awarded a DAB radio, then followed up with a complaint letter that it was useless where he lived.
