@verymetalsite
So true.

When I see "now includes AI!" I walk the fuck away.

Purchase...?! Are you insane?! In fact, it's cause to rethink purchasing anything from your company.

@verymetalsite I use it at work for functional things like coding and love it a lot. But I don't see the hype as much as everyone else. It's just a search engine that replies in human format or language.
@jdaniele @verymetalsite and consumes much more energy and water along the way than using traditional search engines does.
@verymetalsite I’m pretty sure that’s Google’s entire business plan.

@verymetalsite

very fucking true!

AI is just glorified spyware and it is also burning up the planet.

@verymetalsite and here, dear visitor, you can see another example of mastodon derangement syndrom with its typical universal claim
@verymetalsite @annaleen Fyi the alt description should have the text of the meme in it. I don't have the brain right now to read through all the replies to see if anyone else has noticed this, so #Alt4me.
@verymetalsite Could you please describe the actual image in the alt text? You want something like: "A stylized meme on a red background with white and black text that says 'Stop forcing A.I. into fucking everything. Nobody asked for it. Everyone hates it'". Feel free to use that. Simply saying "anti AI meme" is not enough for people who are blind or low vision or need alt text for any other reason.

@verymetalsite

I agree completely, "Artificial Ignorance"(we have enough ignorance on our own) must not be championed recklessly.

@verymetalsite

"everything" is the key thing here

I use some photo editing programs that claim to use AI (I think it's just sophisticated algorithms but marketing) that are very effective, such as object removal functions.

But anything LLM related is just plain garbage. Has anyone ever actually tried an SLM based on a small amount of reputable and reliable information or does that not waste enough water and energy.

@the5thColumnist @verymetalsite Just out of curiosity, I asked ChatGPT a legal question to which I already knew the answer. It's very slightly technical, but not hugely so; this is something that every lawyer in California who does criminal law would be expected to know, even rank beginners. ChatGPT got it spectacularly wrong, and it took a somewhat lengthy Socratic-method conversation, linked below, for me to persuade it of the right answer. Let's just say that this does not enhance my willingness to rely on LLMs for, well, anything.

@jonberger @the5thColumnist @verymetalsite this is a great check to do for any AI service you're thinking about using. I've found you can easily argue them into giving a different wrong answer too!
@LyallMorrison @the5thColumnist @verymetalsite That sounds like fun, in the event that one of them ever gives me a right answer. Hasn't happened so far, but I'm fairly old and I only have so much time left and there are distinct limits to how much of it I want to spend f***ing around with AI.
@verymetalsite Unfortunately that's just how the tech industry works, you have BS buzzword trends that you put everywhere to attract investors implying you're on the edge of innovation. Was basically the same with mobile apps in 2010, blockchains in 2017 and now AI which still don't exist but it sounds better than Machine Learning based algorithmes or Large Language Model chatbot interface. Some algos aren't even using Machine Learning but AI wording makes it cutting edge !

Actual ALT text, as @verymetalsite refuses to fix it and it's a good meme:

The picture shows black and yellow lettering over a red background.

The black text says: "Stop forcing AI into fucking everything"

The yellow text, in a ring surrounding the black text: "Nobody asked for it; everyone hates it"

took just 2min, now *everyone* can understand the bloody thing
@verymetalsite is that available as a sticker?

@verymetalsite Do you remember 'sugar'?
Nobody asked for that to be added to everything....

I think you should not shout at the producers, but rather the consumers that make this worthwhile and, in fact, necessary to survive...

But what would I know? :)
