So there's an announcement coming tomorrow for a 'content update' to #TheDivision 2

Curious to see, since they all but abandoned it when they took the devs who made and maintained it off the project (and on to things like Avatar)

I liked the snowy city atmosphere of the first game, this one didn't really grab me much though

The Division 2: Battle for Brooklyn DLC & Year 7 Showcase

@flwwhtrbt I sunk a lot of hours into this game, really really enjoyed it. I never got into the first but I think that’s because I had friends playing the second so it was a fun online coop game and still is in my opinion. I wonder if my opinion of the second would change if I played through the first!

I actually miss it, I was hoping they might do something further. Wasn’t there a rumble of something called Heartlands?

@harrybo @flwwhtrbt I really enjoyed the game for a few hundreds of hours - mostly the exploration, loot, co-op action and the world building (there are some comic books as well). I signed up for the alpha/beta but sadly Heartlands has been cancelled 😥

Not sure about the new DLC, it became very grindy in the end and bosses became so bullet-spongy and repetitive that I no longer had fun. Maybe I'll re-install if there is some actual new content 🤔

@chris @flwwhtrbt I did notice the build meta became geared towards simply dealing as much insane damage as possible, rendering all other builds (healer, etc) kind of useless. Which is a shame, and a little boring.
@harrybo @flwwhtrbt Millions of damage with one single sniper shot if I remember it correctly, ridiculous numbers with some meta weapons and builds.. From what I've read they did some rebalancing and the game balance has been improved since. I'll probably get the DLC and casually play through the new content (Brooklyn) but I can't see myself investing that many hours in a game again, there are just too many other great games out there.
@chris Oh I didn’t realise there was a new one! Might check it out myself. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and mechanics, tbh.

@harrybo I lived in New York for a year and it's so cool to walk and explore all these streets and places - they've really build a 1:1 super detailed copy of the city. The atmosphere is incredible and it feels like being in New York - except for the smell 😄 I've you played the game, you'll absolutely know your way around next time you visit the city.

I watched a making-of video of how they recorded the environmental and ambience audio on the original locations like subway tunnels, parks etc. to make it more authentic. Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo are some of my favorite neighbourhoods, so I'm curious to check out!
