If I see AI imagery on your thumbnail/blog post/display pic/advert/website it sends a loud and clear message that this is a super low-effort operation and I shouldn't assign any value to it.
@anon_opin I don't really understand, how is this less effort than a royalty free image? If I write a blog post and want to have some nice images to go with it, what would be the best option for me?
@yaron @anon_opin I'd be fine with AI artwork if it looked good. Some of the images immediately scream 'AI slop', but there are images that aren't immediately obvious to be AIgen.
@alextecplayz @anon_opin yeah, so then you'd say "If your images look sloppy I will assume the rest of your content is also sloppy" or in other words "I will judge the book by its cover".

@yaron @anon_opin

non-model-generated non-clip-art image options I have used:

- a relevant or amusing photo from my own library

- a hand-coded design via Processing / Pillow / ImageMagick / etc

- a visualization of data referenced or processed in the post

- a relevant screenshot (for code or software posts)

- a color or gradient block

- paid art (if you have an idea, cheap commissions are out there)

- and of course evaluating whether the post actually is improved by an image
