Remember late 3.0 & 21-22 when fans shit on peaks in improv?

“That ::insert jam/band:: is too peaky he said as he listened to a 25-min Ruby Waves without a single memorable section.”

Can we all now agree Phish is best when peaking balls while Trey tears the ass out of his guitar?

Also with Phish, it was totally a thing that for a while in late 3.0 they were kinda going to Insta Peaks when jams started meandering. So I’m not sure who you’re out for here— n00bs or JadedVets of Phish or Goose. But Ph & G have gotten flak for formulaic streaks, and sound best when not doing that

@cottonmather.bsky.social In late 3.0, jams became slower and less focused. We got more long jams but they were far less exciting. I called this Trump-era Phish.

Those with the opposite belief argued Trey stepped back for full band jamming and not everything needs a peak.

Anyone think that Trey’s long solo tour this Spring has “helped” Phish jams this week? He had to play way more rhythm on Solo Tour, even when he was dueting with Jeff Tanski…
@willrubenstein.bsky.social i’d say maybe, but he and the band have been on an absolute tear since the spring of 2023. It’s nearly impossible to catch a bad run unless you had the Grand Rapids midweek and Billy Strings is in town.
