One of my favorite things is when someone I follow asks a non-techie question on something I know nothing about, I boost as requested, and my followers jump in with polite but enthusiastic support.

You wanna cook this thing but don't know how? Your dog is being weird and you want to figure out what's wrong? I have this weird object, here's a picture, WTF is it???

There's a whole world of folks out there who want to help.

I truly love that.

@mwl @Susan60 I see part of what I’m doing here on Mastodon is building a collective brains trust. If I help people work stuff out when they need it, people will probably help me when I need it

Yes, but I don’t think anyone here keeps count. We’re not that transactional!

@Susan60 @mwl no of course not. I more mean in the course of everyone being helpful it just sort of works out that we all get what we we need (often from different people than the ones we helped), not in a battering favours kind of way
