Even the Financial Times admits that Donald Trump is building a police state.

This should give everyone a new perspective on the movement to abolish the police, which was so controversial a few years ago. Despite tremendous outcry against racist police killings, the Biden administration doubled down on promoting the legitimacy of police and channeled considerable quantity of resources towards them, all of which they will now use to impose Trump's agenda on us.

The movement to abolish the police was our best hope of countering the forces via which autocrats like Trump will impose fascism.

It still is.

"The only possible way out of this mess is to develop the ability to wield power on our own terms, horizontally and autonomously, stripping the police of legitimacy and shattering the illusion that they are invincible. This has been the common thread between practically all the significant movements of the past several years."

We said that in 2014.

@CrimethInc How can we fight the police when they ALL have guns and most of us don't? How can someone reasonably try to bring a knife to a gun fight?

@phoebeweyland

Actually, in May and June 2020, social movements outflanked and outmaneuvered the police over and over, day after day, all around the country. So one place you could begin is to study historical examples.

There are a variety of answers to this question, but as a general starting point, don't think of it as a symmetrical clash of force meeting force. To quote an anonymous Italian anarchist text, "the force of insurrection is social, not military." Think of it as a battle for hearts and minds; think of it as a contest for control of different kinds of territory; think about all the different kinds of disruption that can exert pressure on those who might otherwise support police violence. Think about how to be creative.

@phoebeweyland @CrimethInc the second amendment is still in force. Getting armed should be a priority for everyone at this point.

Joe Biden had one job only: stopping fascism

And he failed

@paezha @CrimethInc @fcktheworld587 That's what he said, but nobody should have ever believed a word out of his mouth especially considering his entire 2020 campaign was just him lying about his legacy over and over again.
@CrimethInc solid “blue” states politicians also suspect support to #defundthepolice so they cut social services, deferred maintenance and arts programs in favor of increasing “criminal justice” budgets. Interestingly, in Seattle, the city still can’t recruit all the cops Council wants, despite massive signing bonuses, cop city perks. Even potential police candidates are not interested. There’s more progressive utopian vision than media might have you think.

@CrimethInc I keep thinking about the discussion between Zoe Baker and Vaush, Baker was saying that the USA is an worse position than weinmar germany thanks to the lack of social structure, and “radical” politics in government.

@CrimethInc We need a new model of policing, and it can be really simple. You are personally liable for any policing actions you take. Be a hero and a jury of your peers will never convict you. Be a gang terrorizing communities and killing civilians on suspicion, and the people will rise up in resistance.

Absolutely no qualified immunity or special privilege, just citizens improving the community by enforcing the law, if/when it is just.
