Lady ArtemisI take “immigration system” and the ICE as not the same concept. I mean, at the moment, our failure of an “immigration system” is maybe mostly the harmful ICE, but seriously not a part we need or want or would have to have with a properly funded good system in place.

LevkaThere haven't been shootouts already that we've been told about. How many ICE pigs have had "unfortunate accidents" while off the clock? It might make local news, but national(ist) news doesn't cover it, especially if it was a Luigi style op. If they did report it they'd blame it on soap opera, not politics. They don't want to start a fad.
That's speculation on my part, of course, but I've studied these miscreants in some depth for over half a century, so at worst it's an educated guess.

1. First you gotta be carrying a firearm or have one near and either be direct target or bystander who is seeing it develop in real time - Opportunity
2. Identifying then sets up a pause and in general, a bystander with rod probably wouldn't intervene against unidentified and or 'refuse to identify self', even less so if they bark out they're with ICE. If you haven't decided you're going to step up with hot lead ahead of time in any situation like that, you get one more pause before you do so with the opportunity.
3. Most the folks getting kidnapped are...I hate to say it like this...soft targets who are cased/reconned on their habits/routines before kidnapping, and so the initiative is with ICE, so even if you are a hard target, you might get boxed in a place where you can't or will be slow to draw. The scads of videos out there of students and workers getting kidnapped almost all have them taken by surprise in their normal routines and can't react - its shock. So bystander with beef is more likely.
I mean, honestly, I've worked out what I would do if I see something like going down, and I don't carry any weapons and not a physically confrontational person at resting state, and it's all bad, but better me to stop a death sentence and take my lumps whatever they may be.
I think about George Floyd and how a flying leap kick from any number in the crowd that had gathered could have stopped that shit. But they didn't.

Baron Vonskinnback@HeavenlyPossum to be fair ICE have brought this on themselves, because it now no longer matters if you have done something wrong, it now no longer matters if you've done something illegal, it now no longer matters that you're a US citizen with all of your required papers and documents, the reality is if they take you into custody you're going to be deported to a foreign concentration camp anyway, guilty or not, so you might as well fight because it's the only way you will stay alive and safe...
