My son, whom I've taught Scheme, Smalltalk, Python, and a few other languages since he was a pre-teen, dislikes the thug life of us IT practitioners. Good on him. He's studying biochemistry, physics, and jazz in college.

Now, he's using Python Jupyter notebooks for his labs. Ya caint winem all.🤣

Alas, like many, he may end up doing anti-vibe coding, where one of the AIs that controls the human species comes up with vague ideas for software and tells your son to "fill in the no-doubt obvious small details to make it into a perfect piece of software. How hard could it be? Get moving."

@dougmerritt @AmenZwa Calling it "vibe-coding" makes me a bit sick to my stomach. Like "refactoring", a word for a concept that doesn't need to exist. Dark matter.

LLMs are basically manual pages you can ask to write a snippet. There is no "I" in "LLM", but it is a better way to access the manuals for sure. I don't want to have to read all 100 pages just to find the function call I need, I only want to _ask the book._
