@juergen @josephcox The palantirs were the seeing-stones that Sauron used to communicate with his lackeys; I think it's plenty appropriate.

(I can't remember if he originally _made_ the palantiri, but by the time of the novels, he was using them to communicate with, e.g., Saruman.)
