HyTerra to start drilling at Sue Duroche 3 Well for Kansas Hydrogen Project
HyTerra (ASX:HYT) said that drilling operations are about to begin at the Sue Duroche 3 well site, located in the Nemaha Project in Kansas, USA. The Murfin drilling rig 116 has arrived, with rig-up operations underway and the spud date expected for April 17. This marks the first phase of HyTerra's 12-month exploration program aimed at unlocking the potential for natural (white) hydrogen in Kansas. The exploration is funded by Fortescue Future Industries Technologies and will be carried out through HyTerra's 100%-owned subsidiary, HYT Operating. The Sue Duroche 3 well will focus on drilling both the sedimentary and pre-Cambrian basement sections, confirming the presence of hydrogen and/or helium through mud gas readings and laboratory testing, and characterizing the reservoir rocks. The drilling, logging, and sampling program is expected to take two to three weeks, with updates to be provided as key results are obtained. This well is the first of two planned for the exploration stage 1 program, with Blythe 13-20 to follow. The company has an option to drill a third well at its discretion. The Sue Duroche 3 site is situated near the historic Sue Duroche-2 well, which reported high hydrogen and helium levels during its 2009 analysis. At the time of reporting, HyTerra's share price was $0.033.
