A Toronto woman is raising concerns about her privacy being breached after she received a text message transcript of her conversation with her roommates during a Lyft ride last month.

@w7voa ... I hope my last Lyft ride in Iowa was recorded. The driver was a nice guy, but had Kansas City Chiefs logos all over his car, and I'm #BillsMafia ... We trash-talked for almost the entire half-hour to CID.

I ended the ride with Josh Allen's "Be good, do good, God bless, and go Bills."

If you're within electronic earshot of any smartphone or smart assistant then your conversation might be being recorded, and in a public space it's impossible to know what devices - apart from your own - might be listening.

If someone woke up in 2025 after being in a coma for twenty years then they would be appalled at the lack of basic privacy in today's society.
