You probably all heard the trope that we all hate change. Really hate it and oppose any attempt to do so.

I do not agree at all as we all make changes all the time in life, even take huge leaps of faith.

What we do not like, though, is imposed changes from people telling us what to do and not to do.

@trondhjort I recently heard this argument from Albert Moukheiber a neuroscientist, usually when you ask people to move to a larger and nicer apartment they like change 🙂

Observation:
It’s not “people don’t like change”.

It’s more they don’t like “unilateral, unexpected, unannounced, unconsented, unplanned & imposed” interruption to carefully constructed, self-curated process/workflow from experimental “trail & error” feedback that finally works for them. It’s unwanted personal productivity “car crash w/o seat belt” spending money on tool “supposed” to enable & enhance their “personal productivity”.

@dahukanna Saying that people do not want change is a power play IMHO. It often comes from people benefiting from the system staying exactly as it is. They have often fought for that position after all. Would go as far as calling it gaslighting.

@trondhjort

Totally agree. It is a gaslighting, dictatorial, power over move.

@trondhjort This! So very much this!
