the logitech keyboard i'm using doesn't have a Break key, which i need for Kd's Ctrl+Break keybinding

the logitech keyboard has an interface that lets you configure actions for certain keys

this interface doesn't let you pick Break from a list, but lets you enter a shortcut...

... by pressing the keys you want

so i plugged in a second keyboard, with a Break key on it, and used that. it worked.

upsetting

@whitequark as a heads up for future shenanigans, windows onscreen keyboard (at least the win10 version) has a full keyboard, including the elusive pause/break key
@whitequark based on my experience in the '00s if you've installed the logitech software, that was your first mistake...
@whitequark the thing with there being no real rationale in Windows for what software is allowed to use what stack space when there are hooks going on and early x86_64 windows effectively multiplying the memory use at each level of call was a really bad scene, but some vendors stepped in it more than others
@whitequark from the same company that made G HUB, where they give you a giant list of every key possible, truly amazing
@whitequark my first guess would have been the windows on screen keyboard; I've had to use that a couple times to press caps lock
@whitequark oh but surely you’d want an “AI Action”, whatever the fuck that even means
@domi @whitequark fuck logitech

@whitequark somewhere a Logitech employee closes ticket with the label “working as expected”
@whitequark Clever! I think it would have taken me a long time to come up with that myself, even though I'm familiar with needing to find and plug in a different keyboard.
