My Lenovo x230 was beginning to struggle with Windows 10. It would boot up in seconds but something was always consuming a quarter of the processor and browsing was sluggish.

Having since replaced Windows with #Debian #Linux and Chrome with Firefox the machine boots just as fast and feels snappy, even when browsing!

What's more, no longer does the processor get swamped and browsing barely puts more than 1.25 load.

Amazing!

What's more, I had replaced the battery with an after market 9-cell battery but under Windows 10 the system kept shutting off.

After a bit of research the solution was either re-paste the processor or something to do with power tools thinking the battery was dead.

Since moving to Linux, the computer hasn't repeated this weird behaviour.

Essentially, what this has done is make this thirteen year old laptop usable, almost feels brand new.

Honestly, my work provided mac feels slower than this machine does right now!

@carbontwelve One thing that also makes my own X230 feels modern is a tiny usbc charger adapter, meaning that I can charge it with the same cable than my phone! I have the project to actually replace the charging port, but there is little space in there.
