Excellent!

A Norwegian court has determined that crypto mining is not "industry", and therefore can be excluded in local zoning plans for industry.

Municipalities in Norway want to exclude them because of the huge energy demands and very few jobs created.

This is a good decision. These data centres are a massive waste of energy and resources.

@veronica My first thought was that this is good, but reading the case it seems like it goes for all data centers, and not limited to those who is used for crypto mining, which, in my eyes, is not that good. Oh well, the data center we are moving to in a few months is up and running, so I guess it will only limit the options we have in the future
@berrot Yes, I noticed this, too. I think it is a good ruling in all these cases, and data centres should be regulated locally as special cases. The resources need to be justified.
@veronica Yes, a coffee and some "fresh air" and I agree with you there. The crypto-bros can't "force" their way into an industrial area, but if it is wanted by the municipality they can change the regulations. All over a good thing (just my having too much on my mind to think clearly and logically)
