There's one big reason no one has tried to migrate away from the old code: government financial transactions are extremely complex. Complying with the myriad of laws that have existed for decades is hard to reproduce from scratch.
Not to mention: it works. It may be slow and inefficient, but moving fast and breaking things isn't an acceptable philosophy when people's money is at stake. Government and Agile™ do not mix.
@Kancept @wbud @GossiTheDog It has been suggested before in a few countries. Because this thing is quite common. I van not remember seeing it changed over in modern time.
In NL any large changes are postponed to after 2029 for this reason.
Also, fewer "roman salutes".
