Sunny commute bus, working on sun disc.
Sunny commute bus, working on sun disc.
This sun disc goes to eleven. I guess it's on to the fruit hat fruit pickers, or maybe the little fringes of meadow flowers.
Anne of Green Gables is reconciled with her best friend Diana's mother by a night of heroic nursing for the youngest child who took sick while the parents were away.
Tonight's reading was an evening variety recital put on by Anne's school which led to a mishap getting Diana in trouble with her visiting great-aunt, repaired by an honest confession and a charming apology from Anne.
Needlework progress is the small flowers by the fruit hat characters' feet.
Tonight's needlework, progress on the acorn cap boy, who is my adaptation after the style of the fruit hat girls from "501 Enchanting Embroidery Designs".
Anne of Green Gables reading: frightening herself with imagining ghosts in the spruce woods between her house and her best friend's house, and earnestly trying to welcome the new young minister and his sweet and kind wife, but spoiling a cake by flavoring it with liniment which Marilla had stored in an empty vanilla bottle.
I wonder if anyone has done a shoujo manga of Anne? Her character and stories sound like they would fit. (edit: yes, multiple adaptations to manga and anime)
A little more filling in on the acorn cap boy, on this morning's commute bus.
Back on the bus after three days working from home (snow, early teleconferences). Starting with the pear hat fruit picker.
Sunday evening progress on the dishtowel project.
Monday progress on the fruit hat characters.
Tuesday progress on the commute bus. Pear hat dress character has shoes now. Pear hat shorts character has 90% of shoes (ran out of that length of brown, plenty more on the skein).
Evening work. Filled in some green lines and purple flowers for the pear hat character with shorts.
Commute bus needlework. Sunny today! Starting on the apple picker with short pants.
Worked the apples on one of the two apple pickers.
Worked the other apple picker's apples. I decided red again because the apples are small enough that a green or yellow fruit would be ambiguous.
Tonight's chapter from Anne of Green Gables sees her turning thirteen, admiring her new schoolteacher and the new minister's wife, feeling a little let-down after the dramatic Christmas recital and concert, and starting a story writing club with her friend Diana
No commute or after dinner story time today, but I took some time during a social conversation teleconference to work on one of the fruit picker's hats.
This time it was the pear person in a dress. I thought of Marlena Compton and her PearConf which I enjoyed attending.
Reverse and front of work in progress, adding the blue dress and gold hat outline.
All the little brown shoes complete, moving along to the other pear person's hat.
Tonight's sewing was during a home viewing of the Keira Knightley, Donald Sutherland, and Judi Dench version of Pride and Prejudice. A very active, moving camera, a rapid pace faithful to the storyline (though perhaps bewildering to first timers), lots of beautiful location shots, interesting buildings, and so many geese. Clearly this is your P&P if you are a goose fancier.
More commute more needlework. One of the two strawberry pickers with a dress outlined in red. On a bus stop bench.
Worked the strawberry hat during a live taping of NPR's Wild Card at Town Hall Seattle.
Added the small strawberry and a few golden seed stitches on the hat, started the other strawberry hat character.
Commute bus needlework. Strawberry shorts character gets hat and shorts stitched in.
Moving on to sewing the apple picker character with hat, shirt and shorts.
Switching to the central design element, two characters wearing cherry shaped hats connected by the cherry stems of the hats converging.
All hats, dresses, shirts, short pants and shoes done, we're now down to baskets, arms. legs, and faces.
Baskets for the fruit pickers. Work in progress.
All four baskets finished, for the two strawberry pickers, one for the two cherry pickers, and one for Acorn Hat Boy.
Starting on the characters' faces with the mouth and cheeks of the pear hat girl. Mouth: single strand hot pink. Cheek spots: double strand pale pink.
Three of nine characters stitch-complete. Two pear characters and the acorn hat character are done. A pair each of cherry, strawberry, and apple pickers remain.
The fruit picker and flower border embroidery piece is stitch-complete.
Pictures before and after washing out the soluble, self-adhesive pattern transfer paper. These designs were mostly hand-traced or adapted at the given scale from "501 Enchanting Embroidery Designs".
Lovely! I think the little acorn hat one is my favourite? π€©
@CurlyParakeet The acorn hat design is an original from me (at least the hat and shorts).
Pear, apple, and strawberry characters wearing dresses are traced straight from the book.
must be why I liked it so much!! βΊοΈ
