Gen. #Christopher_Cavoli, head of the #United_States European Command, spoke about the #Ukraine_Russia war at a Senate hearing and gave an overview of the general situation on the battlefield (second half of the video).
Several points:
◾️The #US didn't anticipate #Russian losses of that scale back in February 2022, nor did they think the war would last that long.
◾️The quality of the #Russian military force, especially their ground force, has been decreasing - although they have some isolated areas of strength. With #Ukrainian Forces, it is the other way around.
◾️If #NATO had to face #Russia now, its positions would be "exponentially better" due to lessons learned in the last two and a half years.
◾️The #Russian economy has a very overheated military sector and a "swamped" civil sector.
