Are there any Buddhist #indexers out there? The Comprehensive Index of Pali Suttas has officially completed its first draft. If there is anyone out there who would like to offer specific feedback to improve it as the editing phase begins, that would be most welcome.

Get the teachings you need. An index of topics, words, people, similes, and titles found in the suttas of the Pāli canon of the Theravada Buddhist tradition.

And of course if there is any feedback from people who are using the index that is also greatly appreciated.

Because it isn't limited to the normal cramped space at the end of a book, this index is much more expansive that normal.

An example of a specific question I have… Take this part of the index: https://index.readingfaithfully.org/#loving-kindness-mettaa

I'm wondering if all those subheads that start with "as" are wrong and I should just drop the "as" completely.

Another big area of doubt is with xrefs. For example in the shot below.

There are a few different Pali words for insanity and I index them under two different headwords. (both "insanity" in English.)

"Madness" is a pure xref with no subheads. Do I need to be pointing to both of the "insanity" headwords? Or do I just point to the one that comes first? Keeping in mind that this will be primarily a digital resource that may one day also be available in print.

@ReadingFaithfully_org cross references should be complete, so you should point to both places or at least to the preferred term. Make sure double postings are complete and comprehensive as appropriate, as well.
